Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment certification measured against five core controls: boundary defence, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and patch management. Cyber Essentials Plus covers the same ground but includes an additional layer of verification through an independent technical audit. Where Cyber Essentials provides a foundation of cyber security assurance, Cyber Essentials Plus offers a higher level of confidence, ensuring the implemented controls are effective and robust.
