My antivirus software will protect me from ALL threats. 

Antivirus software is a great first line of defence against cyber threats. However, it is not fool proof. Cyber criminals are constantly producing new ways to bypass antivirus software. That is why it is important to have other layers of security in place, such as other boundary protection, stronger passwords and better information governance, which will protect your assets.  

I do not need to worry about cyber security because I do not store sensitive data on my computer. 

Even if you don’t store sensitive data on your computer, you are still at risk of cyber-attacks. Cyber criminals can use your computer to launch attacks on other computers or networks. They can also install malicious software that damages your system or steals your personal information. You may feel your device is not a threat but hacking into your device could open other doors!

Investing in cyber security does not have to be expensive. There are many affordable cyber security solutions available, such as firewalls and password managers. The cost of a cyber-attack can be much higher than the cost of prevention! It’s estimated that the costs of cybercrime to the UK are £27 billion a year.

I do not need to worry about cyber security because I have nothing to hide. 

Even if you have nothing to hide, you should still be concerned about cyber security. Cyber-attacks can lead to identity theft, monetary loss, and damage to your reputation. Cybercriminals are often very clever, and there’s a purpose behind their actions. So why take a chance, protect yourself and your business today!
