We were pleased to welcome customers to our exclusive event with the North East Regional Cyber Crime Unit (NERCCU) recently, inviting participants to explore the perils of cyber crime through interactive activities, alongside a presentation from Graeme Stewart of Northern Rights, who provided a real-world context to the benefits (and importance) of proactive security by delivering an informative talk to the group.
The first interactive session saw attendees tackle NERCCU’s Decisions and Disruptions game, placing them in charge of a power plant whilst being tasked with taking business-critical decisions around their company’s cyber security, and all whilst under attack!
The session was a great opportunity for attendees across a broad range of sectors to engage with a hands-on learning experience, offering insight into both the impact a cyber attack can have, and the actions needed to counteract the threat of one.

Following lunch, Graeme Stewart shared his thoughts on the importance of robust cyber security measures, based on his experiences within Northern Rights, a social enterprise which works with a diverse range of people who have struggled to find sustainable employment.
Graeme highlighted the critical importance of data protection for service users, but also the business benefits of their commitment to cyber security and how being able to prove their dedication to a proactive approach had unlocked further business for him and his team.
Finally, our guests took part in NERCCU’s Cyber Escape Room exercise, working together in teams to solve a crime through tasks and puzzles intended to emphasise the basics of cyber security and how important it is to have good digital hygiene – with both groups able to crack the puzzle, save the day and escape!
We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to NERCCU for facilitating a fantastic set of interactive exercises for our guests, Graeme Stewart for sharing his perspective on cyber security and to our attendees for coming along and engaging with the day’s activities – we hope you left with a deeper understanding of the basics of cyber security.
If this type of session sounds like something you, or your business, would be interested in attending please contact us, we’d love to work with you to deliver this training to your team.
