Digital Platforms Engineer / Marketing Specialist

Role Overview

We are looking for a practical, curious and hands-on Digital Platforms Engineer / Web & CRM Specialist who enjoys solving problems and is happy to get stuck in.

This is a varied role covering websites, WordPress, hosting, HubSpot, SEO, digital marketing and internal platform improvements. You will not necessarily have experience in every area listed, and we are not looking for someone who ticks every box.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in some of these areas, a solid technical mindset and the confidence to learn the rest.

You will be comfortable investigating problems, taking ownership and seeing work through to completion. You should enjoy improving systems, figuring out how things work and finding practical solutions rather than waiting for someone else to provide the answer.

If you have a strong web or digital-platform background, enjoy working across different technologies and think the role sounds like a good fit, we would like to hear from you even if you do not meet every requirement listed below.

Responsibilities

Web & Platform Engineering

You will build, maintain and improve WordPress websites, create and update pages using Elementor and similar tools, implement design changes and new functionality, and ensure websites work well across desktop, tablet and mobile. You will also diagnose and resolve WordPress, plugin, theme, hosting, performance and compatibility issues, support website migrations, work confidently with HTML and CSS, and carry out appropriate testing before changes are released.

Website Maintenance Platform

ITC operates its own website maintenance platform. You will progressively take technical ownership of the platform, learning how it works, managing and improving it, onboarding websites, maintaining configuration, troubleshooting issues and developing improvements, tooling and automation. You will also create clear operating procedures for Service Desk engineers and identify opportunities to make website maintenance more efficient and scalable.

HubSpot, CRM and CMS

You will maintain and configure HubSpot CRM environments, build and maintain HubSpot CMS pages, create and manage forms, lists and properties, support workflows and automations, create dashboards and reports, and help with user issues, onboarding and training. You will support CRM data quality and understand how HubSpot connects with websites and other business systems, recognising when specialist HubSpot, RevOps or integration expertise is required.

Digital Marketing and SEO

You will carry out technical SEO improvements, use Google Search Console to investigate website issues, resolve indexing problems, maintain schema markup, manage redirects, optimise page titles and meta descriptions, and create or improve landing pages. You will support internal SEO activity, marketing campaigns, conversion improvements and the wider team’s work to improve website performance and lead generation.

Systems, Automation and Platform Development

You will understand how websites, CRM platforms and other business systems interact, working with APIs, webhooks and integrations where required. You will identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual work, improve internal tools and processes, troubleshoot data flows between platforms and document systems clearly so knowledge is not dependent on individual team members.

Client Communication and Ownership

You will communicate directly with clients about website, HubSpot and digital projects, gather and clarify requirements, translate requests into clear actions, explain technical issues in straightforward language and provide clear project and support updates. You will manage expectations, follow up for approvals and information, maintain accurate ticket and project documentation and take ownership of work through to resolution wherever possible.

Working with the Service Desk

You will help define and document repeatable website operational processes for the Service Desk, including initial website ticket triage, basic troubleshooting, website availability checks, hosting administration, DNS and domain changes, backup and restore processes, website access requests and routine use of ITC’s website maintenance platform. You will act as the technical escalation point for complex faults and exceptions, while identifying work that can safely be standardised, automated or delegated.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting, maintaining or improving websites, ideally including WordPress.
  • Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, or the confidence to quickly learn similar tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to diagnose website, plugin, theme, performance or configuration issues, including unfamiliar systems.
  • Understanding of website hosting environments, cPanel or similar hosting platforms, DNS and domain fundamentals.
  • Experience with website migrations, backups, restores, responsive development, QA and testing.
  • Technical SEO awareness, including Google Search Console and website performance troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with confidence communicating directly with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, take ownership without constant supervision and maintain clear documentation.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • HubSpot CRM, CMS, forms, lists, workflows, automation, reports or dashboards experience.
  • JavaScript and/or PHP.
  • API integrations, webhooks, SQL or database fundamentals.
  • Git or source-control experience.
  • CRM implementation experience or relevant HubSpot certifications.
  • Schema markup, conversion rate optimisation, WooCommerce or website security experience.
  • Experience building internal tools or platforms.
  • Experience working within an MSP, digital agency or technology consultancy.
  • Experience using ConnectWise or another service-management platform.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development and automation tools.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means website issues are resolved without routinely requiring management involvement, WordPress and Elementor work is delivered reliably, ITC’s website maintenance platform has clear technical ownership and Service Desk engineers are supported with documented processes. It also means HubSpot, SEO, website and platform improvements are handled effectively, client communication is clear, and repeatable work is increasingly automated or delegated over time.

Working Arrangements

The position is based out of ITC Service’s head office in Hebburn. The normal hours of employment will be 40 hours per week, 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday, with hybrid opportunities discussed after a successful probation.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to accommodate changes to their working hours from time to time as required for example to assist with urgent requests/disruption to service.
