Business Development Representative

Role Overview

We are looking for an energetic, resilient and technology-confident Business Development Representative to help ITC create new business opportunities.

This is a proactive outbound role for someone who enjoys speaking to new people, is comfortable working at pace and is motivated by activity, experimentation and results.

You will use phone, email, LinkedIn, HubSpot and other prospecting tools to identify opportunities, start conversations and create qualified meetings for the wider sales team. You’ll work particularly closely with our marketing team, following up on campaign activity and helping shape the messaging that goes out.

We are particularly interested in someone who is comfortable using modern sales technology, automation and AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and continually looks for better ways to prospect.

You do not need to arrive knowing everything about the IT or MSP sector. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong communication skills, good process discipline and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Understand Prospects

You will take time to understand each prospect’s business, the technology they rely on and the challenges they are facing. Using a simple qualification framework covering budget, authority, need and timing, you will work out where ITC can genuinely add value, then pass clear, useful context to the account manager who picks the conversation up.

Proactive Prospecting

You’ll create new conversations through phone, email, LinkedIn and other appropriate channels. You’ll be encouraged to test different approaches, use prospecting tools effectively and look for ways technology can improve research, preparation and productivity.

Build and Manage Prospect Lists

You’ll help identify suitable target companies and decision-makers, research accounts before outreach and keep prospect information accurate in HubSpot. This is a role for someone who is comfortable creating opportunities rather than only working from warm leads.

Lead Follow-up and Opportunity Creation

You’ll manage follow-up carefully, keep lead activity organised and make sure next steps are clear. The focus is on keeping conversations warm, spotting where there is genuine interest and creating qualified opportunities for the wider sales team.

Use Technology Effectively

You’ll use HubSpot, LinkedIn, sales sequences, AI-assisted tools and automation to work efficiently. You’ll be expected to maintain accurate information, reduce unnecessary manual work where possible and share practical ideas that could improve the prospecting process.

Stay Current

You’ll build a working understanding of ITC’s services, including managed IT, cybersecurity, Microsoft cloud solutions, connectivity, hosted voice, digital and AI services. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you should be keen to learn and confident enough to develop credible conversations over time.

Work Closely with Marketing

This role sits very close to Marketing. You’ll work with the marketing team day to day on target audiences, messaging, campaigns and sequences, following up on campaign activity and feeding back what you’re hearing from prospects so we can keep improving what we put out. You’ll also work alongside Business Development and Account Management to hand over opportunities cleanly, and you’ll be encouraged to bring your own ideas on tools, process and prospecting.

Social Selling and Networking

You’ll use LinkedIn and professional networks to connect with relevant decision-makers, build a credible online presence and support ITC’s visibility. You may also represent ITC at events, webinars and networking opportunities where appropriate.

Outbound Optimisation

You’ll help test call approaches, email messaging, sequences, audiences and channels to understand what works best. The aim is to continually improve outbound activity and share useful learning with the wider team.

Maintain Communication

You’ll maintain clear, professional communication with prospects, respond appropriately to questions or objections and provide relevant follow-up. The focus is on building trust and keeping opportunities moving until they are ready for Account Management or further development.

Competitor Awareness and Feedback

You’ll develop awareness of competitors, alternative solutions and common prospect objections. You’ll also share useful market insight, client pain points and competitor information with ITC to help improve our proposition and messaging.

In return, we offer a competitive basic salary with commission linked to the opportunities you create, ongoing training in sales technique, our services and the tools you will use day to day, and real scope to develop into a wider business development or account management role as you grow with us.

What Success Looks Like

Success in the first few months means getting confident on the phone, building a working knowledge of our services and creating a steady flow of new conversations. Beyond that, it means a healthy lead pipeline, good CRM discipline and qualified meetings that account managers are genuinely pleased to attend. Quality of opportunity matters far more to us than volume of activity.

Over time, you’ll generate qualified meetings and opportunities, collaborate well with the wider team and build enough service knowledge to have credible conversations with business decision-makers.
