Whickham Dental Practice is a well-established independent dental practice, providing a full range of treatments from regular dental checkups and comprehensive care plans to cosmetic dental treatments such as teeth whitening, teeth straightening and implants.

The Challenge

As part of their growth strategy, Whickham Dental Practice also launched a new site – Crossgate Dental in Durham – requiring a robust and scalable IT infrastructure across both sites, to match their commitment to clinical excellence.

They needed a comprehensive suite of managed IT services tailored to the healthcare sector, with minimal day-to-day disruption during implementation and roll out.

This included reliable connectivity across practices, a top-tier cyber security strategy to protect sensitive patient data and a future-proof telecoms system they could depend on. Alongside seamless access to Microsoft 365 tools for cross-team collaboration.

The Solution

We began by auditing the practice’s existing systems, upgrading legacy hardware, and implementing a centralised server environment.

This was supported by ongoing remote and on-site IT support to minimise downtime and ensure smooth operations.

Connectivity was significantly improved through the installation of high-speed broadband with failover capabilities and secure Wi-Fi network for both staff and patients, alongside the deployment of a future-proof, cloud-based telephony system.

Staff collaboration was enhanced via a full migration to Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and OneDrive for document management and storage, alongside training sessions to optimise use of Teams and Outlook.

To safeguard patient data, we implemented endpoint protection, a managed firewall, intrusion detection, and 24/7 Managed Detection & Response (MDR) cyber protection.

As part of its expansion, Whickham Dental launched Crossgate Dental in Durham, with ITC Service playing a pivotal role as IT partner when setting up their new space.

We designed the infrastructure, installed all hardware, deployed fibre connection, set up cloud-based telecoms at the Durham site-ensuring smooth integration, extending Microsoft 365, new staff devices, and secure Wi-Fi for both teams and patients.

The result: seamless launch, no delays, enabling efficient operations and collaboration across both sites.
